Reasons to Buy PSP 3000 – Maybe Not

October 14, 2008 is the date of official release of the Sony PSP 3000. A lot of speculations and rumors, including the built-in camera are heard last year about the improvements in this coming model of sony’s handheld game platform but almost none of the expected list came out into reality.

These are the new features that we can expect in the new model.

As of the moment, Sony is still struggling with its toughest adversary, Nintendo in sales. Statistics says, Sony has sold about 41 million PSP machines globally but Nintendo has sold 77.5 million Nintendo DS handheld devices worldwide. With this revamped, can Sony even make a gain?

The president also commented that more and more now are using PSP not only for gaming purposes but also to listen to music, watch videos and to access the internet. The statement maybe true but this doesn’t justify the new model or even encourage users of the older model to upgrade.

For those who doesn’t have PSP yet of any model, it is good for them if they will buy the revamped model because they can get it with the same price but for those who already have the older unit, do we have a any reason to get into 3000? I have the PSP-2000 model and I got headset with the mic on it and it works fine for me. The first time I heard about the coming model, I was excited but after hearing the ups, honestly, I got frustrated. I think, we need to see more juice on this model for it to be successful in sales. PSP owners, alike surely will doubt if this upgrade is worth taking. Or most probably, Sony must start to think for other handheld line of product and leave PSP as it is.

Do you own PSP? Will you upgrade into 3000?
