I purchased this tv set in the late 2008 and have found it to be an an absolutely good purchase.

A couple reviews said that the tv set has problems while the black shades are switching. Ilooked at this in the store for couple of minutes and have used it for a month and now I can say for sure that my TV doesn’t have that problem. This is a super sharp TV with superior colors and strong black tones. This tv Set is a lot better than the old TV model from the same W series.

Here is why you should buy this television. It has a extremely good image in high definition and does a flawless job in standard definition transmission a lot better than any other televisions I have used. For that it’s respossible a great technology from Sony called DSP which is essentially noise reduction technology. Sony of course knows Blu-ray because afterall they invented it, they know what skin tones should appear I mean they hold a movie studio, the tv menus are very easy to use, it has a built in TV guide and it has future expansion capability.

Image quality is very near Samsung in high definition. I looked at both televisions side by side. Samsung has a slight edge on clarity in analog broadcast. Samsung has more glare, Sony is a matte screen but darks on Samsung are solid because of the glossy screen. While viewing a Blu-ray disc,Sony has a bit more details. No fade from white to dark issues on Sony as some reviews has mentioned. Colors are pleasant and bright as Sony Bravia two engine is outstanding, maybe even better than XBR engine.I’ve heard the Z series is better but there aren’t 52” models

Tv menus on Samsungs are made for experts with a lots of tweeks, but actually it’s unclear for average user. If you doubt that, download the user manual for the Samsung LN52A650 and for Sony KDL524100 and see the difference. If you are technical expert, then buy Samsung. If you don’t want to get lost in menus, but get an outstanding picture, go with the Sony. Ths Sony TV is very easy to use, but also it automatically finds digital channels and is like you get also a built in cable box.

The Sony TV doesn’t have the Ethernet connector and built in news like the series 6 from Samsung, but it does have the built in TV guide and option for upgrades. But, if you want internet in your TV, you are better to be connected through external device. The TV guide feature in this tv is good and the Sony Bravia Sync is great particularly if you are using a Sony DVD converter for 1080p. Picture in Picture technology is great also because you are able to view picture from HDMI and at the same time watch cable TV.

For me preferred characteristic on Sony KDL52W4100 is the on/off button on the top side as this is keeping children from turning off televison. Also a good thing is the remote on the Sony as it is very simple to operate.

In the end, if you want the a very clean picture, simple to use LCD TV with options that makes regular television watching smooth and simple. This Sony KDL52W4100 is great choice.
