The Sony KDL46W4100 is an appealing and completely equipped LCD television. We were almost impressed by its performance, with very dark blacks, perfect white colors and a bright display. But there are negative sides, as the color gamut is a bit off and the viewing angle are not really good.

If you are movie fan or you like some other fast moving action on your television, then this LCD television has got a plenty of things what you are looking for. The Sony KDL46W4100 performance was great in our movement tests. We saw clean movement with movies that had a lots of movement, and the TV had no problem serving a good image.

This Sony supports a full 1080p or true HD signal. The choice of connectors is great, having a 4 HDMI ports. Too bad that this TV doesn’t have a USB port or some card reader.

This televison as well offers TruSurround which is a trademarked SRS technology that enables playing 5.1 channel content through two channel speaker systems. This LCD TV presents a great virtual surround sound through any two speaker units, including it’s own television speakers and also headphones. It is completely capable of reproducing all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels.
This television also has three audio enhancement technologies to produce an awesome sound. Great sound with the outstanding picture quality really makes this Sony Bravia TV a good one.

The Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 executed well in our tests of of dark and white colors. Blacks were really deep, especially for an LCD TV of this price range. White colors and greys were vivid and accurate.
This TV really has excellent colors, we have seen consistent white colors and a clean, exact representation of the basic colors that are used to make all colors on the screen. We were satisfied with color precision, but we did notice a slight problem with the televisions color gamut, which means colors may not everytime come out precisely they should.

The greatest problem with this LCD TV is a viewing angle. Looking from aside we found that the contrast ratio was decreasing. Contrast is the difference in presenting the black and white colors. This television doesn’t have a very good viewing angle, even for an LCD TV, which generally don’t have good viewing angle as Plasma televisions.

The remote control of Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 is really enjoyable to hold and well laid out with the exception that the controls for direction are at the different ends of the remote control from the channel buttons. The menu on the TV is similar of that used in the Playstation 3, and it will need some time getting used to it.

Power consumption is around average. You can have turned on this LCD TV and you don’t need to worry that you’ll get a big bill for electrics.

This Sony KDL46W4100 is a very great LCD TV, with a a lot of features and superior performance on almost all fields. The viewing angle fact will be serious for some. If you require a TV that will be in a room where that will be watched from all angles you may want to go with a Plasma. If this isn’t an problem for you, then you you are going to get your money’s worth with the Sony KDL46W4100.
